Frank Ragnow made an interesting statement about Lions fans after being named Man of the Year.

The Detroit Lions had a great offseason, giving fans the franchise’s first division title since 1993. The Lions are contenders in the NFC and some Detroit players will be lining up to get end-of-season gear. Lions center Frank Ragnau is Detroit’s nominee for the NFL’s Walter Payton Man of the Year. He was asked about his candidacy and his relationship with Lions fans, which influenced his choice.

“Thank you to all the Lions fans. You’ve been so supportive in this chaotic situation,” Ragnow said on NFL Network. “Now that we’ve won a few games and played really well, it’s been great to see all the support.” Detroit is one of four franchises that have not won the award and one of two franchises (Buffalo Bills) that do not have an awardee and a Super Bowl winner. Ragnau spent his entire six-year NFL career with the Lions, earning two Pro Bowl selections in his first five seasons. Receiving this award would be a huge accomplishment for Ragnow and would put the Lions on the NFL map.

It’s always nice to see an unknown player win an award. At least it’s always nice to see someone who isn’t a star win an award. The Lions are fresh off a division title and have high expectations heading into the playoffs. Frank Ragnow and the rest of the city of Detroit will have a big part to play in the end of the season.Detroit has the most wins of the season and a chance to make the playoffs.
