Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell gave an emotional locker room speech to his players after Sunday night’s win over the Los Angeles Rams. The win gave the club its first playoff win in 32 years, officially ending the league’s longest drought.
NFL fans who follow the Detroit Lions on Hard Knocks are familiar with Campbell’s energy in the locker room, but he took it to another level after the win over the Rams.”We’re playing at home next Sunday,” Campbell said in the locker room. “We have winners from Tampa and Philly. We’ll be at Ford Field at 3 o’clock because you won. How much did the electricity cost? Let me tell you things are not going to be good. It’s everything you’ve ever dreamed of and more.
Campbell gave the first of two game balls to Lions general manager Brad Holmes, who told the former Rams scout, “I love you, great job.” Then he passed to quarterback Jared Goff and set the room on fire.”Let me put it this way: You’re good enough for Detroit, Jared Goff,” Campbell said before handing the ball to the former Rams star. “Hi, I love you guys and I appreciate you,” Goff said. “This is just the beginning, kids. This is just the beginning.
There are 3m——f——. Next week at home, at my home, against whoever wants to come in here. Let’s go. Win by 3 points.”Against his former team, Goff threw for 277 yards and was 22 of 27 passing. He had three sacks but never gave up the football in a 24-23 game where every possession counted.
