Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Joe Gomez, but Liverpool are reluctant to part with the player. Gomez, who joined Anfield for £3.5m from Charlton Athletic in 2015, has been a key figure. I have been a member of his club for several seasons. The 26-year-old defender has helped the team win seven trophies so far and has made 197 appearances in all competitions.
According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur have now earmarked Gomez as a January transfer target. They want to strengthen their defensive line following injuries to Christian Romero and Mickey van der Ven. But Liverpool are not ready to let go of the versatile defender until midway through the 2023/24 season. Furthermore, the Reds believe the player is the only left-back option available in the first team.
Gomez, whose current contract expires in June 2027, could opt to leave his current club in search of bigger titles. If he joins Spurs, he will compete with Romero and Van de Ven. And Liverpool are expecting a number of centre-backs including Goncalo Inacio, Piero Hincapie and Nino next January.
