Venus and Serena Williams shown their strength once more after it was revealed days before Serena’s solo and the sisters’ doubles victory at Wimbledon that their father, Richard, had suffered a stroke. Most people who know the sisters already know how close they are to their father. Richard Williams was the driving force behind the girls’ tennis careers and continues to influence them even though he no longer coaches them.

In an exclusive interview with Radar, Lakeisha Williams admits that the Williams grandfather suffered a stroke and was released from the hospital last week. “His condition is fair; he’s up and walking around, but he’s not at 100%. He requires speech treatment, psychological therapy, and physical therapy, but for the time being, he refuses,” she said. “I’m trying to get him under control and comfortable so that when we return from out of town, we can try to get things going. But he does not want to be bothered with anyone.”
