Among the group of Las Vegas Raiders players hoping to see Antonio Pierce return as head coach next season is Josh Jacobs.
Jacobs, who will be a free agent this spring, talked about his future after the Raiders’ win over the Denver Broncos, saying he wasn’t sure what to expect at first. “At the end of the day, I like the group that we have,” Jacobs said, via Vegas Sports Today . “I love this city and what we have built. I’ll let the chips fall where they may, but it’s definitely been a blessing and an honor.
When asked if he would like to return to Las Vegas, Jacobs replied “100%” and then added this little nugget along with his words:”He’ll still play, but 100 percent, especially with [Pierce] as a coach,” Jacobs said. Many other Raiders players have left their mark on Pierce, including wide receiver DaVante Adams and Maxx Crosby.
Pierce has clearly created a locker room culture that the players like, so you can bet owner Mark Davis will take that into consideration when deciding who will be the head coach this season in 2024. Pierce took over as coach after Las Vegas fired Josh McDaniels in late October. Under Pierce, the Raiders went 5-4 and boasted the No. 1 defense in the NFL.
Most notably, they scored 63 points in a 42-point win over the Los Angeles Chargers and beat the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium on Christmas Day.Davis recently said he thinks Pierce has done a great job this season, even though he still has to go through the process according to league rules. We’ll see Josh Jacobs and Antonio Pierce return to Las Vegas next year
