Discussion: Why lions Can not win the NFC East?

Thankfully the Detroit Lions held on against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 16 and won the division, else Saturday’s controversial defeat to the Dallas Cowboys would have felt even more painful. Instead, the biggest injustice now comes down to playoff seeding, as the Lions look destined for the No. 3 seed in the NFC.

Regardless of if Detroit does get the No. 2 seed and a second home game, that Divisional Round matchup is expected to be against the winner of the NFC East. If the Cowboys win on Sunday, they will take the division title; if they lose and the Philadelphia Eagles win, it is theirs.

Today’s Question of the Day is:

Which team do you want to win the NFC East?

My answer: No matchup is easy in the playoffs, but it never hurts to root for what you prefer. Both the Cowboys and Eagles are strong teams, and both have won their most recent matchup with the Lions, though only narrowly (Dallas 20-19 last weekend, Philadelphia 38-35 last season).

Despite the close game on Saturday, I am not sure I want to see the Lions play another game in Dallas (which is the most likely outcome should the Cowboys win the division). The gap in quality might not be large, but the history is just too much to deal with. The Eagles and Jalen Hurts are a scary matchup, but there feels like less baggage here.
