2024 NFL Draft: Raiders GM dismisses….

Cornerback Terrion Arnold was once chosen with pick out No. 24 in the 2024 NFL Draft with the aid of the Detroit Lions. However, he believes the solely reason he is not a Las Vegas Raider proper now is because of a coin flip on the first night time of the draft.

“(The Lions) knew that the Raiders, there was a opportunity that they took me,” Arnold stated on “The Next Round” podcast. “And, actually, the Raiders coach, they called me after the draft, they were like, ‘We genuinely had a coin toss between you and Brock Bowers. It landed on him.'”

The Raiders ultimately drafted Bowers, who accepted supervisor Tom Telesco said was “a consensus guy.”

Assistant familiar manager Champ Kelly also dismissed Arnold’s claim.

“Yeah, I can’t confirm that at all,” Kelly said, with the aid of Vic Tafur of The Athletic. “Terrion is a properly player. I’m excited to watch his profession and watch him play. But we drafted Brock, and we’re excited to get him here. And I don’t suppose every person else in our total draft room felt any other way.”

Las Vegas’ decision of Bowers was stunning to some after the crew had just used its second-round pick on Notre Dame tight end Michael Mayer a 12 months ago. However, Bowers was possibly the nice player on the Raiders’ board and Telesco said, “there’s no rule in the NFL that you can only play one.”

“(His) position is tight end, but we saw him as a playmaker,” Kelly added. “He is going to be a enjoyable piece to have.”

The Georgia product is exactly that after registering a hundred seventy five catches for 2,538 yards and 26 touchdowns in the previous three years.

It seems not likely that a team would flip a coin to make its selection whilst on the clock following months of preparation, but even if that had been the case, it appears even less probable that it would admit that.
