While Jair Alexander was one of four Green Bay Packers starters who did not practice Wednesday, wide receivers Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Weeks returned to the practice field as the team began to prepare for Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings.
Reed was inactive for the win over the Carolina Panthers because he was dealing with bumps and bruises, including a finger injury. Dontayvion Weeks, who helped last week, hit a 21-yard field goal before halftime but went down in the second half with a chest injury. Having both players on the pitch for an early clash will build momentum.
They face the Vikings, who have the best defense in the NFL.That’s especially true when wide receiver Christian Watson recovers. Watson, who has missed the past three games with a hamstring injury, stretched before practice and put on a helmet but was not on the field for the first part of practice.Along with Alexander and Watson, linebacker De’Vondre Campbell (neck) and left tackle Elton Jenkins (shoulder) did not practice. Jenkins has had days off in recent weeks, so that could be the case again.
Campbell was inactive last week after being told he would not play due to injury. Safety Darnell Savage, who was sidelined last week with a shoulder injury, has returned to practice. Additionally, rookie quarterback Luke Musgrave did some blocking drills while reporters were present. He was designated to return from injured reserve last week, but hasn’t actually started practicing as the team continues its slow comeback from a ruptured kidney.
The Vikings have injury issues involving T.J. Hockenson and outfielder D.J. Wonnum suffered a season-ending injury against the Lions. Meanwhile, explosive rookie Jordan Addison is questionable for Sunday night after suffering an ankle injury against Detroit. At FanDuel Sportsbook, the Vikings line went from 2.5 to 1.5 on the news. After Alexandru’s message, the network moved to 2.
