Las Vegas had the 13th overall pick in this year’s NFL draft. They have several positions to strengthen this offseason, including quarterback.
While quarterback Aidan O’Connell played well in the second half of the season, the starting position for the Raiders will be highly contested this season. There are only a handful of top quarterbacks in this year’s draft, and all will be selected when Las Vegas announces its picks. This led to the idea that the Raiders could team up with one of the top teams in the draft to select their quarterback of the future.
The Raiders have nine picks in this year’s draft and have some holes to fill on their roster. Some of these holes only allow one or two players to putt. O’Connell has also performed well this season considering his situation. O’Connell has played well this season and has earned the right to compete for the Raiders starting quarterback position this season.
As difficult as this season has been, the Raiders have a chance to make the playoffs before their final game. They have a new head coach who will make all the necessary changes in the offseason and a new general manager who knows how to reshape the roster. Telesco has been relatively successful as a first-round pick, usually as successful as Joey Bosa.
The Raiders can add to their team as they see fit. The quarterback position undoubtedly needs additions to be made to it. But Las Vegas shouldn’t mortgage its future by playing a quarterback who might not pan out.Telesco shouldn’t be tying his legacy with the Raiders to such a bold risk early in his tenure with the team.
He has the knowledge and foresight to fill other positions on a team that could use top talent, such as offensive lineman or linebacker, while keeping the 13th overall pick and using free agency or the trade market to find another quarterback.
