Most transfers made by football clubs these days are accompanied by carefully crafted announcement videos, many of them based on pop culture references, and Luke Chambers’ move from Liverpool to Wigan Athletic is no exception.
On Friday morning, the League One club confirmed the 19-year-old had signed a provisional deal for the rest of the season and opened the news by mentioning the big film.
Building on the left-back’s legacy, Latics’ social media team posted a video depicting a scene from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Here, the title character searches for information about where the last three words of the film’s title are contained.
He drops a clip of Chambers signing his Wigan loan deal, telling Gryffindor’s most famous student: “I can show you” and some of the teenager’s highlights on the pitch. The League One club’s social media team have done a smart job. If you’ll excuse the pun, here’s hoping the defender can give us some magical moments at the DW Stadium!
