The Los Angeles Lakers got a scare when Anthony Davis injured his knee in the third quarter against the Golden State Warriors on Saturday night.
Davis has been a starter for the Lakers this season, appearing in 45 of 47 games and ranking among the league leaders in minutes played. However, he suffered from groin cramps at the start of the season, which later recurred upon his return to the dressing room.
Moments later, Davis was able to return early in the fourth quarter to end the game. He still had a monster game, posting 29 points, 13 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 blocks in 45 minutes in the Lakers’ double overtime win.Although he wasn’t playing at 100 percent, Davis told Spectrum SportsNet after the game that he felt good.”I am very good. Like earlier this year. I am very good.”
Davies also discussed the physical nature of the game and the cost of playing programmed moves for 45 minutes.”It’s hard to win in this league, especially in this stadium. I think it would be painful to lose such a match. Obviously you let it all down and I think everybody in that locker room let it down, not only in the locker room but in the locker room.
Losing him would hurt. However, to win we had to take care of our bodies because we had to play 3 games in 3 days and 4 nights in Houston and Atlanta. Of course it’s tiring, but it’s also fun. Having fun and letting it all out on the floor will give you that adrenaline rush you need to finish a basketball game.
