The Packers now have two cornerbacks for a crucial matchup with the Vikings.

Justin Jefferson has to lick his chops. After the Green Bay Packers suspended Jaire Alexander during Sunday night’s game against the Vikings, the team is without a quarterback. Now they are behind the two best corners.

The Packers cut Eric Stokes on Saturday and placed him on injured reserve hours later with a hamstring injury. He had no previous injuries.Stokes has missed seven games this season and two games in 2023 with a thigh injury. The Packers lost 34-20 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in December.

On Sunday the 17th they beat the Carolina Panthers 33-30. Stokes has five wins against Carolina and six wins overall this season. The 29th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft has recorded 87 tackles, 14 passes defensed and one interception during his three-year NFL career. That’s bad news for the Packers, who have to figure out how to protect Jefferson without two cornerbacks.

Jefferson missed the Vikings’ first game against the Packers off injured reserve with a hamstring injury, but has 29 receptions for 478 yards and four touchdowns in six career games with Green Bay. Jefferson’s best game against the Packers last season came on Sept. 11, 2022, when he had nine catches for 184 yards and two touchdowns.
