The Las Vegas Raiders are now looking for their fifth offensive line coach in a decade.ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported Thursday that former Raiders offensive line coach Carmen Brisillo will join the New York Giants and fill that role. Bricillo has been Las Vegas’ O-line coach the past two seasons.
During the 2022 season, he oversaw an O-line that helped secure league rushing champion Josh Jacobs, who totaled 1,653 rushing yards. Prior to his time with the Raiders, Brisillo was the New England Patriots O-line coach in the 2021 season and co-head coach in the 2020 season. He joined New England as an assistant coach in 2019.
Brisillo began his coaching career as a high school football coach before joining his alma mater, Duquesne University, as the O-line coach during the 2005 season. He was then hired as an assistant coach at the University of Akron. He held this position from 2006 to 2008.
Brisillo moved to a Power Five conference in 2009 when he joined the University of Illinois as an offensive assistant. It was a year before he became the O-line coach at Youngstown State for nine seasons. As O-line coach in Las Vegas, Brisillo was highly regarded in the Raiders locker room, especially in his O-line group.
This season, he has been able to adapt to the challenges of a starting lineup that includes injuries to team captain Colton Miller, center Andre James and junior offensive tackle Sayre Munford.Brisillo’s hiring by New York comes just days after former coach Bobby Johnson was fired.
The Giants confirmed Briscillo’s hiring shortly after Fowler’s report. The NFL Scouting Combine will be held from February 27 to March 4, 2024 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
TheNFL Draft will be held April 25-27, 2024 in Detroit, Michigan. The Las Vegas Raiders are currently 13th overall.
