Chelsea are concerned about Romeo Rabia four months after rejecting a move to Liverpool. The midfielder is going through a tough time. One of the transfer stories this summer has been Liverpool’s search for a defensive midfielder. For a long time Romeo Lavia seemed like their last choice and a relatively big spender. But everything changed when Moises Caicedo left for Chelsea.
Liverpool made a British record bid for the Ecuadorian but the Blues matched it. Finally, Caicedo decided to move to Stamford Bridge. Liverpool have since returned to Lavia, but Chelsea have decided they want him too. They turned heads and Lavia decided to move to London instead of Merseyside. Since then, things have not been good for the player (or club).
Lavia almost suffered an injury and waited four months to make his Chelsea debut. The debut came in Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Crystal Palace on Wednesday. Lavia was substituted in the second half but miraculously left the pitch injured. He is currently dealing with an ankle injury and it is still unclear how serious it is. But manager Mauricio Pochettino admitted it was a real concern. “I’m a bit worried about Lavia,” he told the Daily Mail.
“Fixed a few issues, but hopefully nothing major.”Chelsea will now be hoping that doesn’t mean he has to return to the pitch, but it’s further proof that you can’t be too quick to judge the summer transfer window. Liverpool were left out of the window, failing to land their top goal and instead gambled on Stuttgart’s Wataru Endo, a player with no reputation in England.
