Green Bay Packers star Jaire Alexander has been suspended for an incident that occurred before the team’s 33-30 win over the Carolina Panthers.
Despite not being named captain, Green Bay suspended Alexander for one game after security came out for the pregame coin toss. Alexander said the Packers wanted to play defense and was asked later what happened. “I said I wanted our defense to be there,” Alexander said. “They all looked at me like I was crazy. What I want to say is very simple. I wish the defense was there.”Alexander, 26, is one of the best linebackers in the NFL.
Although he played just six games in 2023 due to injuries, Alexander made two Pro Bowl teams during his career.The Packers will certainly miss Alexander as they try to keep their playoff hopes alive. Green Bay may have preferred not to cut Alexander given their current postseason aspirations, but the organization ultimately made the necessary decision.The Packers travel to Minnesota to host the Vikings in Week 17.
