Liverpool have yet to make contact with Colombian centre-backs Kevin Mantilla or Taleres de Córdoba over a move despite reports of interest.
According to Colombian publication AS, Manchester United are continuing to follow up on their previous interest in the defender. Mantilla was first linked with a move to Liverpool earlier this year when it was revealed the 20-year-old was being tracked, but any potential move would face Brexit-related work visa issues.
Neither Mantilla nor his name were further mentioned in Italy until Liverpool were mentioned as one of the European interested parties. The report indicated that they were willing to pay whatever it took to secure Mantilha’s signature. And he was believed to be set for a move to Anfield. However, AS have now followed this up, saying Liverpool have had “no form of contact” with Taleres de Córdoba or anyone close to the player regarding the transfer.
On paper, Liverpool currently only do ‘player tracking’ and nothing more. Mantilha also seemed calm about the future as he enjoyed his holiday before starting preparations. Given the start of the Argentina Pro League and Copa Conmebol Libertadores season. His contract with his current club is set to start in the first week of January and his move to Liverpool is yet to go into full swing.
