The Detroit Lions survived a tough game against the Minnesota Vikings to capture the NFC North for the first time since 1993. Jared Goff and Kirk Cousins share a special moment after the win (with NFL Films) The two veteran signal callers shared a hug after the game and they had a lot to do. The Lions’ recent success has been disappointing, and Dan Campbell came in and quickly turned things around in Detroit.Cousins suffered a torn Achilles tendon in the middle of the season and is out for the rest of the season. Goff spoke about Cousins’ attitude and comments following the injury. Before Goff, he played for the Los Angeles Rams, was traded to Detroit for Matthew Stafford, and won a Super Bowl with Los Angeles. Now, it would be amazing to see Goff and Stafford face off in the NFC playoffs.
However, Goff found success with the Lions. This season, he threw for 3,984 yards with 27 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in his third season with the franchise.
The Lions now have an 11-4 record, have won their division for the first time in 30 years, and are in first place in the NFC, just one game behind the San Francisco 49ers. Cousins said he was especially encouraged after the Lions finished 3-13-1 in 2021, Campbell’s first season with the team. They have now qualified for the playoffs and have a chance to gain home advantage.
