The Pittsburgh Steelers want to compete for Kenny Pickett this offseason, but the option many are calling the top pick may not be the ideal option.
Justin Fields’ name has been mentioned a lot this offseason with the Steelers, and his presence has only increased as of late. They are believed to be one of three teams approaching the Chicago Bears for a potential trade and have also speculated about the deal, predicting what it would take for Pittsburgh to acquire Fields. But Jerry Dulak of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette won’t be covering the game.
In his weekly chat, Dulak explains that Fields’ hype may have gotten a little out of hand, and a splash trade may not be what the Steelers are looking for.“I can’t imagine Fields wanting to sign with a team that doesn’t have a No. 1 QB. And I don’t think the Steelers are looking for a No. 1 QB,”
Dulac wrote. The Steelers are the overwhelming favorites to land Fields, and multiple insiders said they have some “fans” of the young quarterback on the coaching staff and front office. But if the stars don’t align, you’ll look elsewhere. Mason Rudolph could still sign this offseason.
