Jurgen Klopp is now set to be ‘reunited’ with an old friend when Liverpool take on Norwich City in the FA Cup.
Klopp and David Wagner are back. Liverpool will play an official match against Norwich City in the fourth round of the FA Cup next month. The Canaries beat Bristol Rovers in the replay despite losing 1-0 on Wednesday.
Gabriel Sarah, Adam Ida and Kenny McLean scored in the second half to turn things around and help Norwich. How about the price? We travel to Anfield in the next round. This leads to the “meeting” of the two old friends. Managers Jurgen Klopp and David Wagner have known each other for over 20 years. They were teammates at Mainz and worked together at Borussia Dortmund.
Wagner also appeared as Klopp’s best man at his wedding in 2005. Wagner is now looking forward to seeing his old friends, whom he hasn’t seen since last year.”I haven’t checked the messages yet, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Jurgen contacts me after he has already,” Wagner said after the Rovers win.
“I haven’t seen Jurgen since his birthday party last year so it would be nice to meet him a bit.”But it’s not about us, it’s about our team getting to Anfield and doing Norwich City proud.”Of course, Wagner is right. There is more to this match than the meeting of two old friends. This is an interesting part and definitely plays an important role in the creation of the game.
The two had previously met as rival directors. Wagner previously managed Huddersfield Town, leading them to promotion in 2017. The two friends have thus played three Premier League games, with Klopp winning all three without conceding a single goal.
