Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter accepted the second-ever Dr. Dre Global Impact Award at tonight’s Grammys ceremony, following Dre’s own win in 2023. Carter, on the other hand, utilized his restricted time to stress the inequalities in his wife’s profession rather than his own. Initially, he kept the tone of his address light. After leading the couple’s oldest daughter, Blue Ivy, onto the platform with him, Carter joked that he might use the latest trophy as a “sippy club for Blue,” despite the fact that she’s “grown up now, she doesn’t take sippy cups, and she has her own Grammys.” (The joke was an homage to his 2014 Grammys win, when he told supporters he had won a “gold sippy.”
