Liverpool’s passivity in the market can be more easily justified when one considers that the rest of the Premier League bidding is active.
As Fabrizio Romano revealed to the channel via Twitter, the move shows why the Reds are taking their time with Timo Werner’s January move to Tottenham. Tottenham have given Timo Werner a medical order pending the signing of a contract and the end of his loan deal.Werner is set to start training as Tottenham’s new player next week. The RB Leipzig striker has played several minutes for Germany this season, scoring two goals in 14 appearances (386 minutes) in all competitions.
Liverpoolneed not panic. It’s safe to say Liverpool could use some reinforcements, especially with Mo Salah’s AFCON-inspired suspension, but no one needs to panic just yet. Any move to strengthen the front three must be done in terms of long-term planning, especially ensuring the Egyptian can live beyond his time at Anfield (hopefully in the future). Unfortunately, this is not a long-term option. There is plenty of reason to be patient when it comes to the backline, where recent desperate moves by Ozan Kabak and Ben Davies have proved ineffective. Of course we want something to happen in January. Think of the impact this could have on your potential reputation boost! Timo Werner is still a possibility but let’s wait!!
