Diogo Costa is a name that keeps “coming up” among Manchester United’s recruitment staff, it has been claimed.
On Wednesday United announced the signing of Mason Mount on a five-year contract with the option of a further year.
The 24-year-old, who is Erik ten Hag’s first signing of the summer, has cost the Old Trafford club an initial £55million, plus a possible £5million in performance-related add-ons.
Upon signing, the England international said: “Having met with the manager, and discussed his plans, I couldn’t be more excited for the seasons ahead.”
After completing the acquisition of Mount, United will give attention to acquiring a goalkeeper and a striker.
In fact, according to Sky Sports News, United has made a bid for Inter goalkeeper Andre Onana in the amount of €45 million (£38.5 million). Ten Hag, who managed the Cameroonian while at Ajax, is said to be behind the move.
According to the publication, Inter wants closer to €60 million (£51.4 million) than is now being offered.
Porto goalkeeper Costa is reportedly another player who has received interest from United, according to Sky Sports writer Dharmesh Sheth.Sheth claimed that conversations at Old Trafford frequently bring up Costa when speaking to GIVEMESPORT.
United will be considering alternative keepers, Sheth stated. The name Diogo Costa from Porto keeps coming up.
Given that David Raya only has a year left on his contract and has made it plain that he wants to depart, he might be a little bit expensive for United.
Costa, who was hailed as “sensational” by journalist Karan Tejwani, has earned a reputation as a reliable shot-stopper.
