Indeed, Guimaraes would be a sensational signing for Liverpool given how impressive the midfielder has been for Newcastle over the last two years in the Premier League. However, with Toon rejecting Liverpool’s bid for Guimaraes, it looks like the dream of signing the midfielder will be put on hold for the foreseeable future.

And with the Magpies getting the deal over the line, the Reds may now feel they have no chance of signing Guimaraes later. As we know, Newcastle want up to £100m for Guimaraes, a fee the Anfield side simply won’t pay for the 26-year-old.
And with other targets, Liverpool know they can get more value for their money rather than continuing to pursue Guimaraes, even if the Brazilian is fantastic.
