Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell is looking forward to finishing Saturday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys.
Campbell said he considers the controversial two-point conversion and subsequent penalty a “blessing” because the Lions can learn from it. He even said he remembers the infamous pass interference that cost the New Orleans Saints the 2018 NFC Championship.
Campbell was an assistant coach with the Saints. The Lions coach said he had “controlled his anger” and the team had no choice but to use the result as “fuel” going forward. The Lions appeared to have a trick play set up for a two-point conversion that would have won their game against Dallas on Saturday, but it was nullified by a penalty kick under controversial circumstances.
In the end, that result may have given the Lions the No. 2 seed in the NFC, but it otherwise changed the landscape of their playoff prospects. If it could be used as fuel, it could help, and that seems to be what Campbell is trying to achieve.
