Liverpool are expected to extend Mohamed Salah’s contract after the Africa Cup of Nations.
Despite his considerable success as a Liverpool player, Salah faces an uncertain future with just 18 months left on his current contract. Salah could move to Saudi Arabia’s Pro League after receiving plenty of interest in the summer transfer window.
Liverpool rejected a bid for Salah this summer but there is speculation he could leave the club at the end of the season. However, recent reports claim that Salah is willing to extend his stay despite being considered a target by Saudi clubs.
According to The Athletic, Liverpool are set to hold talks over a new contract with the 31-year-old upon his return from the Africa Cup of Nations. Reports suggest that United are open to discussing a new contract after the New Year, but the player is currently keen to represent his country at the next tournament in Ivory Coast.
Egypt open their campaign against Mozambique on Sunday and Salah will be hoping his country can still compete for the final on February 1. From a player’s perspective, he is still trying to compete with Jurgen Klopp’s side at the highest level of European football.
