Liverpool have been linked with Barcelona strikers Raphinha and Ansu Fati, who are seen as potential replacements for Mohamed Salah.
Despite being 32 years old, Mohamed Salah has once again been in incredible form for Manchester United this season. The Inter international has scored 27 goals in as many games and remains an integral member of Jurgen Klopp’s side.Salah has not played for Liverpool since the new year following their participation in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. The Egyptian has been ruled out but remains unavailable with a thigh injury.
Liverpool performed well in his absence in Sunday’s 3-1 defeat at Arsenal, but the thought of losing Salah for good is unthinkable. But with his contract expiring in 2025 and Saudi Arabia keen to sign him, the striker’s future at Liverpool is uncertain, especially as Klopp is set to leave Anfield at the end of the season. As a result, United have been linked with a number of potential successors to Salah’s throne, with the Spanish media (via TEAMtalk) showing interest in Rafinha and Barcelona’s Ansu Fati. The former Leeds United forward was regularly linked with Liverpool before moving to Catalonia. The Brazilian got off to a fast start in Spain but has since fallen slightly down the rankings.
Barcelona’s financial woes and the emergence of wonderkid Lamine Yamal could leave the La Liga champions tempted to snap up the 27-year-old. However, given his age and overall fitness, it seems unlikely that Rafinha will replace Salah. 11 goals in 20 games this season isn’t bad, but it’s nowhere near Salah’s level. Partey is currently on loan at Brighton and has shown his form for the Seagulls this season, scoring four goals and providing an assist in 14 Premier League and Europa League appearances.
The Spanish footballer has struggled with injuries throughout his career, even on the south coast of England. Reports suggest that Liverpool will wait to see how he does at the Amex before deciding on a move on the 21. I have three years. But as a right winger, he’s not a natural replacement for Salah, and he won’t come cheap either.Like Rafinha, Liverpool would do well to shift their focus if Salah leaves the club in the near future.
