Lino Sousa, a young Arsenal player, has been seen working out with the first team since the squad’s return to London Colney.
The players from Arsenal returned to action on Monday after a successful 2022–23 season that saw them place second in the Premier League behind Manchester City.
In ten days, Mikel Arteta will play his first preseason match against Nurnberg before meeting Premier League rivals Manchester United on July 22.
Sousa, a left defender who is 18 years old, is one of the guys who might be included.
The portugal Under-21 international joined Arsenal from West Brom in January 2022, where he has gone on to impress within the academy set-up, making 28 appearances across all competitions last term and providing three assists.
And his boss, who has chosen to bring up the kid to train with the first team, has obviously noticed his form.
The only member of Arsenal’s academy to appear was Sousa, who was featured in the Instagram post.
In fact, Sousa has already been given the opportunity to train with the first team before; just last season, he was seen with the group before games against Brentford and Brighton in the Premier League.
The addition of a new defender to the squad will delight the fans, but there were also many familiar faces in London Colney.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are eager to sign defender Jurrien Timber from Ajax which would all but diminish Cedric’s chances of making it back into the team
Elsewhere, Rob Holding has been rumoured with a move away from north London, with Galatasaray among his potential suitors.
Marquinhos was also pictured after returning from his loan at Championship side Norwich, less than a year since joining the Gunners last summer.
