Hull City manager Liam Rosenior says Fabio Carvalho is not guaranteed minutes during his loan spell. The Liverpool attacking midfielder confirmed his move to the Tigers earlier this week.
Carvalho spent the first half of the season on loan at RB Leipzig, but a lack of game time prompted the Reds to suspend his contract. Carvalho, who joined Liverpool from Fulham in the summer of 2022 for around £7m, will be hoping to get his career back on track at Championship side Hull.
The 21-year-old earned his move to Anfield after a standout performance for the Cottagers in their 2021/22 Second Division title-winning campaign, scoring 11 goals and providing eight assists in 38 games. Carvalho could make his Hull debut against Norwich City tonight. Rosenior is confident the former Portugal youth international will succeed.
He told Hull Live: “Fabio Carvalho is here because he is a great player. He has a good chance of playing football, but the rules are the same for every player in football. It has to end. If you watch Fabio’s training today, there’s a good chance he’ll be playing for us. “He makes us better. People can say anything. I do not care. I don’t care what happens on social media. I don’t care what people say about us.
I know where we’re going. I’ve always said that. I don’t have the best team. “I can’t guarantee that I will sign a place or a position for any player. You have to compete every day in training to get where you want to be. So it doesn’t matter what people say about what I guaranteed or what I did to Fabio. I can tell you honestly. Fabio is here because he believes in this group of players.
“He believes in this project, he believes in this way of playing, he believes in me as a coach and in Akun (Ilikali) as the owner of the football club. That is why he is here and I am very happy that he is here.” I think he’ll look back on his career and say it was the right decision.”
