The Cleveland Browns signed a rookie after the injury to Dustin Hopkins.
Hopkinsinjured his hamstring in Houston’s 36-22 win over the Texans in Week 16 on Sunday. He was scheduled to have an MRI on Monday and the team assumed he would not practice on Monday. When Hopkins was injured, the Browns signed Riley Patterson off the Lions’ practice squad.Patterson appeared in 37 games in his NFL career. He played in seven games for the Lions in 2021, 17 games for the Jaguars last season and 13 games for Detroit this season.
Patterson is 58-of-66 (87.9%) on punts and 87-of-90 on extra points in his NFL career. Hopkins is 33-of-36 (91.67%) for the Browns this season. He also made 24 of his 26 extra point attempts. Cleveland has won three games in a row and currently has 10 wins and 5 losses. The Browns host the Jets on Thursday night in Week 17 and close out the regular season against the Bengals in Week 18.
