Erik ten Hag finally has Mason Mount, five years after first catching his eye. When Mount was only 18 years old and playing for Ajax against Vitesse back in the 2017–18 season, the Dutchman fell in love with the English midfielder and sought to sign him there and then.
In an effort to capitalise on a stellar debut campaign at Old Trafford, he has now brought him to Manchester United as the club’s first signing of the summer. The Red Devils and Chelsea have reached an agreement on a transaction that could be worth up to £60 million.
