At least one touchdown has occurred in 11 of the last 14 games. The Packers still had a chance to tie it again, but Jordan Love fumbled, ending the game and the Packers’ season.
Overall, it’s safe to say the Packers played a better game than the 49ers. But young teams make mistakes, and Green Bay isn’t playing against talented, prepared teams.Striker againOf course, kickers have been a topic of conversation much more often than you might expect. But Anders Karlsson makes it difficult for the offense because he needs to score a touchdown.
There is no consistency and no field goal range. “Every time he (Carlson) goes out there, I just pray,” Matt LaFleur said during the game, Fox’s Tom Rinaldi reported. While we understand special teams coordinator Rich Bisaxia likes him and wants to develop him, the Packers need to add the player to the practice squad and get him up on game day. This is what I suggested here earlier this week. Carlsen has missed the ball in 11 of his last 14 games. There’s no reason to be patient as his college career shows no signs of improvement.
In a year where general manager Brian Gutekunst got a lot right, one mistake he made was costly.
Joe Barry again
The Packers can’t rely on their defense. To be fair, the device’s performance wasn’t terrible and was probably better than expected.But Matt LaFleur needs to come up with a complete game plan to protect Joe Barry and the defense. The walks must always be long, the running game must work, and everything must be perfect. When the defense really needs to make a play, it can’t.
The Packers controlled the clock and possessions for most of the game and kept the score low. However, with the game underway in the fourth quarter, the team scored 10 points, including a touchdown run by Christian McCaffrey to seal the game. If you needed any indication that Matt LaFleur needs a new defensive coordinator, it should be no more. The defense is talented and has good players, but they don’t match the sum of their parts.
