PSV sporting director Ernie Stewart has admitted Liverpool goalkeeper Johan Bakayoko could leave in the summer. The electric winger has become one of Europe’s most exciting talents and set trends for Peter Bos in the Eredivisie.
Bakayoko has scored six goals and provided 13 assists in 33 appearances in all competitions so far this season and has made nine appearances for Belgium’s senior team as a 20-year-old.It’s no surprise that the PSV star is a hot commodity, with Liverpool most famously linked with him.
Left winger Bakayoko is likely to be Mohamed Salah’s successor. Egyptians are still tied to the big move to Saudi Arabia. With Liverpool undergoing a major overhaul following the departure of Jurgen Klopp last summer, it would be foolish for Anfield and Neymar’s Saudi outfit Al Hilal not to take advantage of the 31-year-old’s talisman. Request offers that exceed 100 million or 150 million euros.
Bakayoko in the market
Recent reports suggest that Bakayoko has the potential to reach the same heights as Salah, but is more of an elite creator than a prolific goalscorer like the veteran. There are concerns that Bakayoko could become another Antonius, but unlike the Brazilian, the youngster is not just a one-trick pony and his skills would be better put to use against tougher competition than liverpool.
In fact, it looks like Bakayoko’s time at PSV is coming to an end. At least that’s according to the club’s sporting director, Ernie Stewart, who publicly admitted that the Belgian prodigy will not be playing in Holland next season.
