More excellent news for the Orioles: Kyle Bradish, their best starting pitcher from 2023, will make his season debut on Thursday afternoon after returning from the disabled list.
With a 12-7 record, 2.83 earned run average, and fourth-place finish in the AL Cy Young Award voting, Bradish was the team’s ace in 2023. His elbow problems put him on the 15-day injured list at the beginning of the season, and before spring training, he had to have an injection of platelet-rich plasma.
Having made three rehab appearances in the minor leagues, he has steadily improved and will get the ball Thursday afternoon against the New York Yankees. The Orioles made a corresponding action by designating Yohan Ramírez for assignment.
Along with Corbin Burnes, Bradish gives the Orioles one of the best starting pitching tandems if healthy. His return coincides with that of teammate pitcher John Means, which will be helpful in adjusting to Grayson Rodriguez’s injury due to a sore shoulder.
At Oriole Park at Camden Yards on Thursday afternoon, he will take against Carlos Rodón of the Yankees, who is enjoying a breakout season with a 2.48 ERA in six starts. First ball is scheduled for 1:05 p.m.
