Spurs fan burns Mauricio is an exceptional coach with a proven track record. All of us are eager to welcome him on board. Pochettino book after he becomes Chelsea manager

An angry Spurs fan burned Mauricio Pochettino’s book in response to the Argentine’s appointment as Chelsea manager.

As soon as Chelsea’s miserable 2022–23 season was over, Pochettino was generally expected to replace interim manager Frank Lampard.

Pochettino was named the next Blues manager the day after Chelsea’s draw with Newcastle caused them to finish in 12th place.

He committed to a two-year deal with a third-year option, and his job will be to get Chelsea back on track following a disastrous year.

He’s been out of work since his dismissal from Paris Saint-Germain and returns to English football for the first time since he was given the boot by Spurs in 2019.

But as expected plenty Lilywhites supporters have cut ties with their former boss after his employment with rivals Chelsea.

One fan was so infuriated that he proceeded to burn a book about the former Espanyol and Southampton coach.

@tehTrunk tweeted in March that he was enjoying Guillem Balague’s reflections on Pochettino’s tenure at Tottenham, which he led to the 2019 Champions League final.

Giving this bad guy another read, he wrote. I discovered that the new version has a section on the buildup to the CL final after realizing I had misplaced my old copy. Bonus.”

However, in just two months, they have drastically changed their tune. With the remark “How’s this for a barbecue you f**king turncoat?” the fan shared a popular video of the book being burned on a barbecue in the sweltering Bank Holiday weather.

Although he has Soccer Aid managerial commitments first, he will officially begin his new job on July 1.

Expressing delight over the appointment, owner Todd Boehly said: “The sporting team conducted a diligent and thoughtful process that the Board is proud of. We are delighted that Mauricio will be joining Chelsea.Mauricio is an exceptional coach with a proven track record. All of us are eager to welcome him on board.
