Red Bull’s chief advisor Helmut Marko has revealed there is a new candidate to replace Sergio Perez at Red Bull for 2025, despite the Mexican signing a two-year extension in the summer.

Sainz, currently with Ferrari, has been linked to a possible return to Red Bull, where he started his F1 journey alongside Max Verstappen in their junior team. With Sainz’s Ferrari contract expiring, and his future with the team uncertain, Red Bull may look to reunite him with Verstappen in 2025 if Ferrari opts not to extend his deal.
This news follows Perez’s underwhelming 2023 season, where he lagged behind Verstappen in performance. Helmut Marko, Red Bull’s advisor, has acknowledged that the team is exploring options for younger drivers as well, raising the stakes for Perez in 2024.
