NFL Network’s Bridget Condon reports that Green Bay Packers star Jaire Alexander will play against the San Francisco 49ers in the divisional round of the NFL playoffs on Saturday night. He has been struggling with an ankle injury for several weeks.
The injury occurred during practice before the Packers’ first playoff game against Dallas. Alexander was questionable and allowed to play after being rested in the first half. Alexander aggravated his injury against the Cowboys and his status was in question Saturday night. For a Packers defense that has struggled at times, Alexander’s presence bodes well for the NFC’s best quarterback.
The Packers officially listed Alexander as questionable over the weekend.Despite his status, coach Matt LaFleur said Thursday when asked about the star quarterback, “I hope he’s ready to go.” Alexander is dealing with a wrist injury that was re-aggravated last Sunday in the wild card round against Dallas.
He recorded seven tackles (three solo) and an interception before leaving in the third quarter. Despite the setback, Alexander remained in a happy mood and spoke to reporters after the match. He named Cowboys star Dak Prescott one of his best players after the win.
