Aryna Sabalenka has stepped into the conversation surrounding Jannik Sinner’s recent case, offering a strong vote of confidence for the Italian star while urging the tennis world to maintain fairness and consistency in how doping situations are handled.
Speaking in an interview with Piers Morgan, the world No. 1 didn’t hesitate to give her honest take. Sabalenka made it clear she sees no reason to doubt Sinner’s integrity:
“Honestly, I don’t believe there was anything suspicious,” she stated, shutting down speculation with a firm tone.
She also shed light on a concern many players rarely speak about publicly — accidental contamination. Sabalenka revealed that she is extremely cautious about what she eats, knowing even a tiny mistake at a restaurant could lead to a false positive.
“Personally, I try really hard to be careful… you can eat something at a restaurant and be tested positive afterwards,” she explained, hinting at the unseen pressures athletes live under.
Yet despite her support for Sinner, Sabalenka doubled down on her belief in clean sport. She emphasized that while she assumes Jannik’s innocence, she expects fairness, transparency, and equal treatment for all athletes when dealing with such cases.
Her comments strike a balance — a show of solidarity toward a colleague, combined with a call for stronger, more consistent standards across the entire tennis world.
