Liverpool will need to focus on getting three points against Burnley this weekend after a disappointing defeat to Arsenal. The Reds host the Clarets at Anfield on Saturday in one of the games kicking off at 3pm.
They will also be hoping neighbors and rivals Everton do them a favor when they come to the Etihad to host Manchester City. Pep Guardiola’s side will have the chance to see off Liverpool later this month if they can get their wits about them, so United will be looking to take as many points as possible to avoid losing to City.
Kostas Tsimikas (collarbone)
Andy Robertson is back from a long-term injury layoff and his deputy Kostas Tsimikas is now considered the “closer”. The left-back suffered a spinal injury in December and although Klopp confirmed it was “definitely broken”, there were hopes in training camp that the season would not be over. The latest on Tsimikas’ fitness is that he is “awaiting clearance” after recently returning to first team training.
Dominic Szoboslay (hamstring)
Summer signing Dominik Soboslay missed the recent game against Bournemouth with a hamstring problem but returned and scored in the next game against Chelsea. However, the midfielder was not included in Arsenal’s squad as he was still suffering in the area, Klopp confirmed. The chief also said he “can’t take any chances” with Soboslay and is awaiting further investigation. Another report from Hungary suggests the 23-year-old could be out longer than expected, possibly “three to four weeks”.
Mohamed Salah (hamstring)
Mohamed Salah’s absence from AFCON duty was a huge blow, but he will now be ruled out after picking up a punching injury against Egypt. Klopp’s latest update offered the good news that the injury “could get worse”, but a return date has yet to be announced.”I was hurt, but I don’t know if it was a misunderstanding at the beginning. “He is injured and muscle injuries take time,” said the manager.
Connor Bradley (for personal reasons)
Fast-rising star Conor Bradley has impressed as a replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold, but the young right-back has been left out of the squad following the tragic death of his father.Bradley has been left out of the squad for Sunday’s game against Arsenal and Klopp recently confirmed that he has told the 20-year-old to “take as much time as he needs” to be with his family during this difficult time. Obviously, there is currently no estimated return date for Bradley.
IbrahimaKonate (suspended)
If Joe Gomez continues to feature at left-back against Burnley this weekend, Jarrell Quansah could once again start alongside Virgil van Dijk. With Matip out for the season, Liverpool will once again have limited defensive options with Ibrahim Konate unavailable. The Frenchman was handed his marching orders after picking up two yellow cards against Arsenal and will miss the game against Burnley through suspension.
