As Liverpool prepare for their home game against relegation-threatened Burnley, an unexpected incident occurred during the club’s latest training camp. The versatile defender did not attend a session at the AXA Training Center on Thursday, according to the Liverpool Echo.
Gomez, who has made 32 appearances this season, has recently become a regular for Liverpool, featuring in all of the club’s last 11 games.The 26-year-old suffered most of the loss against Arsenal before being replaced by Thiago Alcantara in the 85th minute. It was Thiago’s first game since April last year, but the Spaniard is now ready for a fresh start away from home.
The 32-year-old, whose contract expired in June, picked up a hamstring injury while making a short-term substitute appearance at the Emirates Stadium. In addition to Gomez and Thiago, Egypt’s Mohamed Salah was also absent from training due to an injury sustained during the Africa Cup of Nations last month.Dominik Soboslay has also been ruled out of Sunday’s trip to north London after a hamstring problem forced him to stop training.
