The Baltimore Ravens lost the AFC Championship game last weekend against the Kansas City Chiefs, ending their season. It was a disappointing way to end the season as the Ravens were favored to win, but it was a good year for Baltimore. Now the team is shifting its focus to next season and one question mark surrounding the team is defensive prospect Justin Madubuike.
Justin Madubuike had a tremendous season for the Ravens this year, making the Pro Bowl for the first time in his career. It’s been a special year for him, but with free agency looming, it’s unclear if he’ll stay in Baltimore next year. “Baltimore is home,” Madubuike said, according to an NFL.com article. “But you know, business is business and it takes care of itself.”Madubuike had a monster season this year, racking up 13 sacks. He was a major reason for the Ravens’ defensive success, leading to a Pro Bowl selection.
He feels good this year and believes there will be more such events.”I put up great numbers, I made All-Pro, my first Pro Bowl and I’m very happy,” he said. “I’m excited for the future. I don’t think [the Pro Bowl] will be the last time I play.”Losing the AFC title certainly hurt the Ravens, but Madubuike admits it was a good year even without a Super Bowl win.
He is proud of his season in Baltimore. “I had a really good year,” Madubuike said. “We were a really special group. It was a special group. We had a lot of people who enjoyed being around each other, not just from a football standpoint. We hope we can hold back as many people as possible, but it’s a business and people have to go where they have to go. It was a special team. We had to go all the way. “We fell short, we fell a little short.”
Madubuike is right. Business is business. He has a chance to return to the Ravens next season, but could also move elsewhere if it suits him. With the season he’s had and what the future holds for him, Ravens fans are hoping he stays in Baltimore for the foreseeable future.
