The Las Vegas Raiders are set for a divisional clash in Week 18 against the Denver Broncos.
The Raiders will be without star running back Josh Jacobs once again, according to Adam Schefter.
Jacobs is an impending unrestricted free agent. Las Vegas franchise tagged him last offseason.
Spotrac projects that a multi-year deal for Jacobs would pay him $10.75M per season. Their projected long-term deal for him was 4 years, $43M in a November article.
Given their roster situation and salary cap, it’s quite possible that Jacobs has played his last game for the Raiders. They are eliminated from playoff contention in 2023.
Jacobs is still a solid running back, but 2023 did not do him any favors for a long-term deal. This season, he averaged just 3.5 yards per carry. Jacobs totaled just 805 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns for Vegas this year.
That’s less than half of his total for rushing yards from the 2022-2023 season when he totaled 1,653 yards on the ground. He had twelve rushing TDs last season as well.
Overall, it’s looking likely that Jacobs has played his best football of his career, and the Raiders may not bring him back. If that’s the case, he was a productive player for the black and silver during his career with the organization.
