Las Vegas Raiders Coach Antonio Pierce has one of the greater special personalities amongst NFL head coaches.
His energy, how he expresses himself, and his self assurance are natural. If any one like that is the chief of your team, would you have it any other way?
“When I go away this job, I’m going to be that man I was once before,” Pierce said at the NFL Combine on Feb. 28. “This is a brief seat, I’m not going to fool. I bought hired, I’m going to get fired, but the one issue that ain’t going to exchange about me is who I am — how I talk, how I walk, how I act.
“I do not mince my words, I don’t chew my tongue, it is what it is. So, like it, love it, I mean, this is no specific than what I told Mark Davis Day 1, man, this is me; I do not be aware of what else you guys want. I mean, I inform anyone it’s now not a joke, it is now not a gimmick, it’s me, however I assume that is what humans want to see.
“I mean, I stroll through the halls, I see all these head coaches and former players and scouts and coaches and those are the identical guys that both advised me I couldn’t do what I used to be going to do or had my back. And I preserve receipts.”
Pierce has a vision of where he hopes to lead the Raiders franchise, but he can solely get there if he is authentic to himself. It’s an authenticity that Raiders players, coaches, executives, and followers respect. As a ways as the NFL goes, though, it all capacity nothing barring the wins, specially in a franchise the place they are expected.
