Just a few days before the US Open, Rafael Nadal received word that his pregnant wife Xisca Perello had been taken to the hospital, causing him to suffer yet another setback.
According to Spanish reports, Xisca was brought to a hospital in Palma when she was thirty-one weeks pregnant, and she is still there, staying in a private clinic room.
According to Diario de Mallorca, if medical professionals advise it, the 34-year-old might have surgery within the next 24 hours.
Xisca is at a key stage of her pregnancy and will remain under supervision as a preventative measure.
It is understood that Xisca’s parents have visited her in the hospital, and Maribel, Nadal’s sister, has also traveled to provide support.
Nadal is in New York prepping the US Open, which gets underway at Flushing Meadows on Monday.
Along with Coco Gauff, Iga Swiatek, and other tennis players, the Spaniard participated in an exhibition event before to the US Open on Wednesday night. The event raised almost $1 million for humanitarian aid for Ukraine.
