Queen Latifah says Thom Browne made her feel “gorgeous” for the Met Gala 2024
“It’s going to be a lot of energy, almost like when the queen is put into a beehive—the sound of it—all the bees flapping their wings in excitement,” says Queen Latifah as she prepares to make her Met Gala debut with “the tribe of Thom Browne.” The designer, noted for his austere yet whimsical tailoring, first dressed Queen Latifah in 2021 for her BET Lifetime Achievement Award, but she believes Browne’s work reminds her of a far earlier period in her life.
“I went to Catholic school from third to ninth grade, so I was always in uniform,” the hip-hop and entertainment icon tells VF. “When you wear a uniform frequently, you’re always seeking for unique methods to make your appearance stand out, and some of his appearances bring back memories of those days. He specializes in these intricate details and unique ways of presenting an outfit.” “You know Thom Browne when you see it, but it always seems to feel special on each person who wears it in their own way,” she continues.
