The Green Bay Packers face a difficult decision this offseason regarding David Bakhtiari.
His performance in Week 1 showed he has the potential to remain one of the best left tackles in the NFL if he stays healthy. Unfortunately, Bakhtiari’s knee problem has limited him to just one game this season. However, today Coach LaFleur released a statement revealing Bakhtiari’s future with the Packers.
“He’s a great player, isn’t he?” He’s a great player and his injury was serious. So we’ll evaluate that, get more information, talk to Dave, and I’m sure a decision will be made soon. The Packers’ relationship with David Bakhtiari has been rocky in recent seasons. In December 2020, Bakhtiari suffered a major setback when he suffered a torn cruciate ligament, an injury that would have long-term implications for his career.
In two of the last three seasons (2021 and 2023), Bakhtiari has missed just one game due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament. He played in 11 games in 2022, but the season was cut short again due to recurring knee problems.
If the Packers are confident Bakhtiari can return to full health and perform at an elite level, they would certainly welcome the opportunity to have him guard Jordan Love’s blind spot. There are also signs that Bakhtiari wants to return to Green Bay, which could indicate that he wants to continue his career with the team.
