It’s always an exciting time for Green Bay Packers X (formerly Twitter). Like most social networks, X is full of trolls. It is also full of people with lots of “resources”. So, as fans, we have to be wary of people trying to make news on behalf of the Packers. There were a few tweets on Saturday that gave me pause.
Furthermore, things got interesting because these tweets were made by famous people named Andrew Mertig and Brian Maafi. Andrew Mertig hosts the Pack-A-Day podcast and Brian Maafi contributes to CheeseHeadTV’s annual concept guide. The tweet in question states that the Packers have offered Christian Parker the defensive coordinator position.
The Packers have not confirmed this post. All of this led the Packers to offer Christian Parker the job. So Brian and Andrew were fine. So who is Christian Parker? Christian Parker has reportedly been offered the job. But they don’t say he was hired. He could be for nothing if he gives up on the Packers, but we’ll have to find out who he is. Christian Parker is currently the defensive backs coach for the Denver Broncos and will remain in that role until 2021.
He has coached under Vic Fangio, Ejiro Evero and Vance Joseph. These are all famous people. Prior to Denver, Christian Parker spent 2019-20 in Green Bay as the defensive quality control coach for Matt LaFleur and Mike Pettine. Before joining Green Bay, he played four years at Richmond and coached at the college level for the next six years.Christian Parker is young.
He is only 32 years old. A quick internet search will quickly reveal that players love to play for Christian Parker. He seems to be a coach who is close to the players. This is evidenced by the way Broncos fans treat him. If Brandon Perna and Tom Grossi’s reactions to a GPS podcast about Parker are any indication, Broncos fans really like him. It starts at 4:04.
