Green Bay Packers coach Matt LaFleur may have lost faith in the football gods after his team lost 24-21 to the San Francisco 49ers.
Packers fans have been ready to take on the hometown 49ers at Levi’s Stadium for most of the divisional round. In the fourth quarter, Green Bay dominated the game, leading 21-14.
But the game turned when Packers quarterback Anders Carlson missed a 41-yard field goal attempt with more than six minutes left. After missing the shot, FOX’s Tom Rinaldi shared what LaFleur said about Carlson before the game. The Packers coach admitted he sought help from a higher power to help his struggling rookie. LaFleur’s prayers seem to have gone unanswered.Carlson’s layup gave Green Bay a 24-17 lead late in the game.
Instead, the Packers became the target to secure a spot in the NFC Championship.The 49ers also ended Kyle Shanahan’s shocking streak. Despite coach LaFleur’s divine pleas, his Niners teammate was favored by the football gods.
