The Green Bay Packers had a late season surge and this rally allowed them to make the playoffs after struggling for most of the season.
The Packers won their final two games of the regular season to earn a chance to face the Dallas Cowboys in the wild card game. No one expected the Packers to beat the Dallas Cowboys because they went undefeated at home in the regular season and most of their wins came in blowouts. That didn’t deter the Packers and they went to Dallas and played their best game of the season. They beat the Cowboys 48-32.There was one troubling aspect of this game for the Packers.
Rookie Anders Karlsson missed one of his extra point attempts, which has been a trend this season. He missed five extra point attempts and six FG attempts during the regular season. A week after beating the Cowboys, Carlson missed a fourth-quarter touchdown that extended Green Bay’s lead over the San Francisco 49ers to 24-17. This may result in overtime. Instead, the Packers lost the divisional playoff game 24–21.
Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst said the team will consider a solid veteran player if he’s available. “When the season ends and we get to the playoffs and we have a chance to play in the playoffs, I think if the veteran option is really good, something might be possible. We would consider it. But that didn’t happen. He was the best choice. “We’re excited to see where it goes.”
