Liverpool take a mid-season break. The usual difficult festive period is over, United are still top of the Premier League and the club are still in action in all cup competitions. Jurgen Klopp can have confidence in how the season will unfold.
Another Carabao Cup final is just around the corner. It was the club’s second final in three years and Arsenal lost in the third round of the FA Cup. Meanwhile, the once-horrendous thought of losing Mohamed Salah to the AFCON isn’t so dire now that Klopp is full of strikers to fill the gap. Salah will be missed for sure, but Liverpool win without him.
Comparedto the horrors of last season, it hasn’t been good for Liverpool at this stage and there’s no telling what success awaits us at the end of the season. With Liverpool away for another week off, Klopp has time to reflect on how the season went and recharge for the second half of the season, which may lead to some prize money.
Liverpool fans are going through interesting times. Midway through the season a familiar sight emerges at the top of the Premier League. Liverpool and Manchester City occupy the top two spots. The pair have dominated the Premier League for the past five years or so (Barring Liverpool’s brief collapse last season).
Once again, the two giants look set to compete for the Premier League title, and the Reds’ next few games could prove their title credentials. There is no doubt that Liverpool’s next five league games will be the toughest of the two teams.
City go into the game two points behind Liverpool, so Klopp’s men will be under pressure to maintain their form in a tough game. However, Klopp could see the return of three big players and these three will be crucial for Liverpool to win their next five games, which will ultimately keep the pressure on City.
