2023 did not go as planned for the Las Vegas Raiders. The same goes for fans who want Josh McDaniels gone, but they’re still on the outside, waiting for the playoffs. You’d hate to see someone fired, but McDaniels ruined the franchise even more and he’s still getting paid, so I say don’t feel too bad.
Now they have to figure out who can take this team to the next level. They haven’t won a playoff game in over 20 years, and for a franchise as storied as the Raiders, that may come as a surprise to many. Antonio Pierce, who took over after McDaniels was fired, is the man most fans want back full-time as head coach.
However, there are several candidates the Raiders need to look into. Pierce is a player that other teams are interested in.Antonio Pierce is from Compton, California and was born and raised a Raiders fan.
It means becoming an intruder. He is also a player coach as he also played in the NFL. Pierce played for the New York Giants and Washington Redskins. He won a Super Bowl with the Giants as a defensive captain. From there, Pierce went on to coach high school at Long Beach Poly High School in California, where he coached current defensive back Jack Jones.
Pierce made the transition from high school to college very quickly, becoming the defensive coordinator at Arizona State and coaching Jones. He became linebackers coach there last season. He began 2023 as the linebackers coach and finished it as the interim head coach.
